Last week I had the honor to photograph my first senior from my hometown, McAllen, Texas. It’s funny, the session actually epitomized what a small world we live in. When Alexandria Sanchez arrived for her session, she immediately looked familiar. She told me she went to the other high school in my hometown and we quickly realized we had a ton of mutual friends. (She’s also a real life fan of my boyfriend’s former band Boys Club.)
We had so much throughout this session and for whatever reason, all of the colors came out super vibrant and lovely. The session ran pretty close to the actual graduation date, so the front of UT’s tower was already being set up. We had to get creative and took all the tower photos by the turtle pond and in the cactus garden in east mall. I actually loved those way more than the traditional tower shots, to be honest.
Alexandria and I also spent a ton of time in the same building in the six pack—Mezes Hall—so I got get some rare shots inside on my favorite parts of campus.
Alexandria graduated last December from UT with a degree in biology. She’s been spending post-grad life so far saving up money while she decides what her next big career step will be. I’m so happy to wish her a big congratulations for walking this spring.
